Birds Set for Two In-State Battles this Week
Longwood, Norfolk State On Deck
RICHMOND, Va. – The VCU Rams hit the road for a pair of in-state battles this week, as they are scheduled to take on Longwood Tuesday night at Willett Hall and Norfolk State in a neutral site contest at Chartway Arena on Sunday, Dec. 11.
The Rams (5-5) are coming off a 75-64 loss at South Carolina on Saturday afternoon in the Hoophall Miami Invitational. Senior guard Ace Baldwin Jr. led VCU with 15 points, while freshman forward Jalen DeLoach added 11.
Longwood Lancers
The Longwood Lancers (2-8) will host Virginia Commonwealth University on Tuesday night in Willett Hall in Farmville. The Lancers are coming off a 95-60 loss to George Mason on Saturday night at home.
Longwood is led by senior guard DeShaun Wade, who is averaging 18.1 points per game. The Lancers are also getting solid contributions from junior forward Leslie Nkereuwem (12.6 ppg, 6.3 rpg) and sophomore guard Justin Hill (11.5 ppg, 4.3 rpg).
Norfolk State Spartans
The Norfolk State Spartans (5-5) will host VCU on Sunday afternoon at Chartway Arena in Norfolk. The Spartans are coming off a 65-57 loss to Richmond on Saturday night at home.
Norfolk State is led by senior guard Joe Bryant Jr., who is averaging 15.9 points per game. The Spartans are also getting solid contributions from junior forward Chris Ford (11.3 ppg, 8.1 rpg) and senior guard Dana Tate Jr. (10.7 ppg, 4.0 rpg).
